Estimates
Almost every roofer in the Ottawa area falls short when it comes to providing quotes to their prospective clients. Most of the time a roofer's estimate consists of a 'drive-by' in which a roofer quickly takes a street view of your home, makes a few basic calculations and fires off a hastily scribbled quote. This not only can lead to errors in calculations, but it can also result in problems being missed. Chances are that when the job is finished (having been done in a similar manner to the estimating process) your invoice will contain extra charges because of additional work that had to be done. Additional work that COULD have been included in a more responsible estimating process.
When you request a quote from Covertite Residential Construction, what you get is a comprehensive analysis of your entire roofing system. As a part of our estimating process, whenever possible our estimator will:
- Meet you on-site.
- Put a ladder up and climb on your roof.
- Measure every roof surface.
- Examine for existing damage and areas that will require special treatment.
- Climb into your attic. Proper attic insulation and ventilation is crucial to the health of your roof, and all manufacturer's warranties are void if there are problems with these areas. (Did your last roofing estimator tell you this?) Many roofing problems such as ice damming, curling shingles and cracked shingles can be traced to an attic that is inadequately ventilated, either at the soffit or at the roof-top vents. The only way to properly assess and correct these common problems is to do an internal inspection. From inside your attic we can also look for other problems like condensation, damaged plywood, wet insulation and mould.
- Take photos of all of our findings, both on your roof and in your attic.
- Produce a full Roof Condition Report complete with photographs that will detail our findings and give you our recommendation for any necessary action.
- Produce a professional detailed estimate.
All of this will be done while our estimator is still on-site. Before he leaves you will have a complete understanding of the state of your roof and what is required to provide you with the best possible protection for your home.
Our detailed inspection and the professional report we produce is worth several hundred dollars, but at present we are offering it to you free of charge. It's one more way that we bring you thoroughness, transparency and value. We would only ask that you do not share the information contained in our report with our competition. We have worked and trained hard to be at the top of our field, and in the hands of a lesser roofer, the quality of the work is likely to suffer.
